ShapeBar Return & Refund Policy
At ShapeBar, we hold our hygiene and product quality standards to the highest level. Because our high-waist shapewear products feature integrated panty linings worn directly against the body, South African public health and hygiene frameworks require strict parameters for returns and exchanges.
1. 7-Day Change of Mind & Sizing Exchanges
In accordance with Section 44 of the South African Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return or size exchange.
To be eligible for a change-of-mind return or size exchange, the product's outer hygiene packaging seal must be 100% intact and unopened.
The item must be completely unworn, unused, with all original tags attached, and in its original, untampered packaging.
For safety reasons, once the transparent packaging bag or hygiene seal is broken, the item is legally classified as an opened intimate undergarment and cannot be returned or exchanged under any circumstances.
Logistics Note: The customer is solely responsible for the courier costs associated with returning the unopened item to our fulfillment center, as well as the courier fees required to dispatch a new size.
2. Damages, Issues, & The 6-Month Statutory Warranty
In compliance with Section 56 of the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA), all products carry an implied warranty against latent manufacturing defects. Please inspect your order immediately upon reception.
If your item arrives defective, damaged, or you receive the incorrect item, contact us immediately at shapebar4@gmail.com so we can evaluate the issue and correct it.
⚠️ Important Fabric Disclaimer under the CPA: Our shapewear uses high-performance, ultra-high-compression fabrics designed to shape the body. Structural damage resulting from forcing or pulling a garment onto a body size that deviates from our official sizing guide (such as popped seams, torn lace, or laddering) does not constitute a manufacturing defect and is strictly excluded from our warranty. Damage from non-compliant laundering (machine drying, hot water washing) is also excluded.
3. Non-Returnable Items & Sales
Certain items are strictly excluded from being returned or exchanged:
Opened Intimate Apparel: Any shapewear where the original packaging seal has been opened or tampered with.
Promotional Items: Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items, clearance stock, or gift cards on a change-of-mind basis. (Your statutory rights regarding verified manufacturing defects remain unaffected).
4. How to Initiate a Return or Exchange
To start a return, contact our support team at shapebar4@gmail.com.
If your return is accepted (i.e., the item is verified as unopened, or a manufacturing defect is digitally processed), we will send you a return shipping authorization, as well as step-by-step instructions on how and where to ship your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return authorization will be automatically rejected.
5. Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and physically inspected your return to verify the hygiene seal and garment condition. We will let you know if the refund/exchange is approved based on our strict hygiene standards.
If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take additional processing time for your bank or credit card company to post the refund. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at shapebar4@gmail.com.
